Making Rainbows

We used glass triangular prisms and empty plastic pens to focus the sun’s light into the seven colours of the rainbow:

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

We could even make double rainbows.

We have been talking a lot about making shadows.

We could see lots of shadows and make shadow shapes.  We know that when the sun is directly overhead, the shadows are small (as they were when we were out) and that shadows are longer in the mornings and evenings when the sun is low in the sky.
