More Experiments and Demonstrations for Science Week

Today students from Ms. Cunningham’s and Ms. Groarke’s classes presented 6 science experiments to Ms. McLoughlin’s class.

All three classes learned a lot about friction, gravity, floating & sinking, optical illusions, sounds traveling through objects  and what different objects look like under a microscope.

We made boats out of plasticine (marla) and tested to see how many passengers each boat would hold, we tested different kinds of paper to see how strong each one was, we got a can to roll uphill, we made spoons sound like bells, we made lions appear to be in cages and we could flick coins and oranges into cups.  Each experiment looked like magic until we figured out how exactly it worked.  Then we realised that magic is like science without scientific questions and explanations.
