Parasitic Wasps and Caterpillars

Parasitic Wasps and Caterpillars

We collected caterpillars from our school garden.  They are the caterpillars of the cabbage white butterflies.  They love to eat………cabbage, of course.

We are starting to notice eggs beside the caterpillars and when we look closely we can see larvae wiggling out of the caterpillars.  We have discovered that these are the larvae of parasitic wasps.  For a full explanation have a look at this wonderful video.  Fascinating!!
