Trip To NUIG!

We went to visit NUIG for Health Promotion Week. We learned lots of new things!

We learned about complex carbohydrates and simple carbohydrates. We tested carbohydrates using iodine. If the food turned black with iodine it is a complex carbohydrate and very good for you. If it stayed a brown colour it is a simple carbohydrate and not so good for you. We should eat more rice, pasta, brown bread, potatoes and less sugary foods!

We also looked at the food pyramid and placed the right foods into the correct group.

We loved the physical exercise! We played Ship Shore and a Shoe game to get our bodies moving!

Lastly we looked at cells with the Cell Explorers. We found out how small our cells really are! We made a heart and brain cell and got to take them home!
