We are an inclusive school. This week we have been learning all about autism. It is part of World Autism Month.
We made the lovely Autism Logo, the rainbow infinity sign artwork, and hung it on our window in the shape of infinity.
Today we went on a "Same Chance Walk" and collected some donations for the As I Am charity.
We read a wonderful book called "Understanding Autism" by Paul Wilkinson
and we watched these videos:
- Sesame Street: Meet Julia
This lovely Sesame Street video introduces Julia, a new Muppet with autism, and teaches children about autism in a simple and easy-to-understand way. It promotes kindness, empathy, and inclusion!
- Sesame Street & Autism: Benny's Story:
This video story was created by artists at Exceptional Minds. This is a professional training academy and studio for visual effects artists and animators on the autism spectrum.
- Sesame Street & Autism: Nasaiah's Day
A video that describes a packed day in the life of one autistic child.
- Sesame Street & Autism: Thomas's Story
A video about the different ways autistic children communicate.
