Science Week dancing raisins.
When we put raisins in water they sank to the bottom.
We tried this again but with sparkling water instead of still water.
This time the raisins sank to the bottom of the glass, then after a few seconds we noticed that air bubbles stuck to the raisins and caused them to float to the top of the water. They stayed floating for a few seconds, then the air bubbles burst and the raisins sank to the bottom again. The raisins kept dancing to the top of water as long as the water stayed fizzy. When the water went flat again the raisins stayed at the bottom of the glass.
This reminds us of swimming with our arm bands on our arms. We are like the raisins. We float much better when we have air bubbles stuck to us too (in our air bands).
