Yesterday an interesting question arose in class. Does fruit float?
Today we worked liked scientists to answer many questions that arose around this topic.
Do all pieces of fruit float? Why do we think this is so?
What happens if the piece of fruit is peeled? Will it still float or sink?
Does the size of the fruit matter? Does the shape of the fruit matter? Does the colour matter? Does it matter if the piece of fruit has a stone in the centre? We tested all of these questions, made our own predictions, discovered answers and recorded our findings.
We had a lot of fun and we learned a lot of things that we didn't already know (yes, even teacher!!)
Teacher is wondering what would happen if the fruit was frozen? Would the results be the same? We have no freezer in school so teacher has asked us to try this at home and send a photo on Seesaw. She can't wait to hear what happens.
We tried this at home, and now teacher knows that frozen bananas float and so do frozen kiwis!
