One second class and one junior infant class joined together to learn about boats.
We began by thinking of inventions from long ago until now.
We thought first about telling time....by the stars and sun, sun dials, sand and candle timers, all sorts of clocks and watches. We were surprised to hear that it is very possible that we might be the designers and makers of even more fancy and useful watches when we are older.
Then we started to think about boats.
We were able to put these boats in order of how old they are: canoes, rafts, sailing boats, motor boats and cruise liners.
Then on to the challenge: use one ball of marla to make a floating boat, and then put in passengers to see how many can fit in the boat before the boat sinks. We worked together with a junior infant student with a 2nd class student working together. We love making new friends, and floating boats of course!
