Teacher has a sliding whistle.
She noticed that when the whistle is short then the note that is made is high, but when the whistle is long then the note is low.
Is this the same for whistles, straws and pan pipes?
Yes, it is!
Teacher had an enormously long straw. When she blows it it sounds like a huge ship (or a fart or an elephant).
We all tried gettting our straws to make a whistle sound by putting it in our mouths and getting the tip to vibrate.
We are a noisy bunch!
