Now that it is winter we are seeing lots of seeds on the ground. We even collected lots of them before our mid term break.
We know that seeds are spread in all sorts of ways.
Today we thought about helicopter (sycamore) and key seeds (ash).
They fly in the wind and land apart from the parent tree so that they can have more access to light and water.
We made our own helicopters from paper today and we flew them in class.
2nd class are going to investigate further:- can they make the helicopters fly clockwise or anticlockwise, which flies better..card or paper, with or without paper clips, big ones or small ones?
We flew plastic helicopters too. These really could fly and were a lot of fun too!
