The season of Advent begins next Sunday (29th November). Special advent candles will be lit in every church.
In church there is always an advent wreath. It is a circular wreath made of evergreen leaves (to show that God’s love is everlasting and has no beginning or end). On the wreath are 5 candles: 3 purple, 1 pink and one white. Each week one candle is lit, for joy, peace, hope and love. The white candle is lit at Christmas in honour of Christ’s birth.
We made our own Advent Wreaths in school today.
