On Earth there is air all around us. Gases like Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen, Nitrogen float all around us. When we make a sound, waves travel through the air, all the way to our ears.
In space there is no air so when we make a sound the sound waves can’t travel through the air to our ears.
Astronauts in space use radios inside their helmets to communicate with each other.
