We know lots of 2D and 3D shapes.
Today teacher had a challenge for us…..could we make these shapes with cocktail sticks and mini marshmallows.
We found that when we worked in pairs we were really good at this challenge.
We made squares, triangles, rectangles, pentagons and hexagons.
We also made cubes, cuboids, triangular prisms, triangular pyramids and square pyramids.
We wobbled them to see which shapes are strongest.
We found that shapes with triangles are the strongest.
This is probably why so many buildings and gates have triangles in them.
We think that triangles are good shapes for engineering.
We are really enjoying maths week!
