Science week experiments

We had great fun today using materials like citric acid, yeast, baking soda, food colouring, water and hydrogen peroxide to produce the gases oxygen and carbon dioxide and observe colour changes in liquids to indicate how acidic or alkaline a liquid was.

We loved making the smelly foam and watching our dragon coloured in friction markers disappear with heat from a hair dryer and reappear using the cold from an ice pack!

Carbon dioxide quenches the candle flame.
Carbon dioxide causes the bubbling as we observed any colour change in the liquid.
